On Hiatus.

Boomselection has closed up shop, but GYBO is going strong. Check them out for the latest and greatest. I've moved on from mashes and mixes for the moment and revisited old '90s music, Tricky, Martina Topley-Bird, Thievery Corporation, Mazzy Star, etc.

Essential Mix

Ended up buying the Essential Mix 2003 summer mix from eBay. Get it if you can. Great mix.

Bohemian Rhapsody -- Kleptones

Heard an amazing version of bohemian rhapsody remixed by the kleptones. They took a lifetime of recordings and condensed it into one song. Tried to find it on their site, but could only find Night At The Hip-Hopera, which has a bunch of Queen mashups (tracks from Waxy). It came up almost 30 minutes into illegal songs 20.
Their site pointed to mirror sites for other records, including:
klepshimi, which has a lot of mashup links, but was last updated jan 28 05. most of the links are now dead :(
The other funny item on the mix was ni9e's edit of nwa's straight outta compton, with just the explicit content left in.

Boomselection.info in the archive

That's right, you can download some mp3s from Boomselection on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
Still can't find the Beach tape, though.

BBC Radio 1 Player

Well, if I can't find it, I might be able to stream it from BBC 1's BBC Radio Player.
Aside from The Essential Mix, Annie Mac's is a popular show.

FATLACE MAGAZINE

FATLACE MAGAZINE, which DJ Yoda searches always end up leading to (because he's a contributor and editor). Currently under construction.

Tracklistings :: Essential Mix

Still looking for DJ Yoda & Dan Greenpeace's Beach Tape (Essential Mix from 06-22-03).

VARIOUS - The Best Mashups In The World Ever Are From San Francisco

VARIOUS - The Best Mashups In The World Ever Are From San Francisco

from the cached boomselection page

boomselection got hacked and lost its data awhile back, but google still has cached pages. Here are the sidelinks I found:

DJ Yoda

I'm addicted to DJ Yoda's latest boomselection release, annie max mini mix (MP3).
I want more but I can't find it. Apparently he's selling his mixes these days rather than putting them up on the internet. Well, it happens to the best of them, I suppose. And I'm coming into this really late in the game too so I can't expect much.

I found the old boomselection info on him and would love to hear tje DJ Yoda & Dan Greenpeace Essential Mix 22/06/03. I'll begin my search for this now (scroll down on
Google's cached page for the info).

Indie 103.1

Searching for more mashups. Found Indie 103.1 after reading about Mark Vidler in Twenty Questions.
They link to more sites:

Most of whom I've heard about, but didn't blog yet.

20th century 2

I found the MP3 on Ubuweb.

Raiding the 20th Century

Did a Google Search for "raiding the 20th century" and found the official djfood site as well as a review of Raiding the 20th Century on scissorkick.

Here are the two links referred to in the review:

  • Ninjatune's bio of DJ Food
  • More info about Raiding... I especially like this quote "...and finish something that neither of them actually started..." isn't that what life's about? This page also has links to the PDF listing the tracks, which I've also linked to, if you don't want to click twice to get it...
